UPSC Has Announced Combined Geoscientist and Geologist Examination 2019 for M.Sc, M.E/M.Tech Published on 20th March 2019


On 20/03/2019, UPSC has announced Combined Geoscientist and Geologist Examination 2019. UPSC proposes to receive the application from applicants in Online Mode. Eligible candidates can submit their application to UPSC official website on or before 16th April 2019.

Other Qualification Details: 
Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission. Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Personality Test.
1. The categories of post to which recruitment is to be made on the results of this examination and the approximate number of vacancies in the various posts are given below:- Category I : (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines). (i) Geologist, Group A : 50 (ii) Geophysicist, Group A : 14 (iii) Chemist. Group A : 15  (i) Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group A : 27
2. Minimum Educational Qualification:
a. For Geologists Gr 'A' in Geological Survey of India (a) Master's degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology o r E a r t h S c i e n c e a n d Re s o u r c e Management or Oceanography and Coastal Area or Petrolum scienceGeochemistry  or Geochemistry or Geological Technology o r Geophysicl Technology from  University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)
b. For Geophysist Gr A Geological Survey of India M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) Or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
c. For Chemists Gr 'A' in Geol ogical Survey of India M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.
d. (a) For Junior Hydrgeologists (Scientist B), Group 'A' in Central Ground Water Board. (a) Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or (b) Master's degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.
Age: A candidate for this examination must have attained the age criteria as prescribed below:- (a) For Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist (Group
Application Fee: Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card or by using Internet Banking of SBI. Applicants who opt for "Pay by Cash" mode should print the system generated Pay-in-slip during part II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only.

Important Date

(I) The Online Applications can be filled up to 16th April, 2019 till 18.00 Hours.
(II) The online Applications can be withdrawn from 23.04.2019 to 30.04.2019 till 6.00 PM. 
Document: 
1. Certificate of Age.
2. Certificate of Educational Qualification indicating the Subjects.
3. Certificate in support of claim to belong to Schedule Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections where applicable.
4. Certificate in support of claim for age/fee concession, where applicable.
5. Certificate in support of being persons with Benchmark Disability (where applicable). Immediately after declaration of result of the written part of the examination, successful candidates may be intimated by the Commission electronically and they shall be asked to submit Detailed Application Form (DAF) online. The successful candidates have to send the printout of this DAF with each page duly signed along with the attested copies of the above mentioned certificates of the above mentioned certificates to the Commission at that time. Originals will have to be produced at the time of interview. The interview letter to the candidates may also be issued electronically. If any of their claims is found to be incorrect, they may render themselves liable to disciplinary action by the Commission in terms of Rule 12 of the Rules for the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2019 notified in the Gazette of India dated 20th March, 2019 and also reproduced 

Important Instruction

The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available in the UPSC website [https//www.upsconline.nic.in] for downloading by candidates. No Admission Certificate will be sent by post. All the applicants are required to provide valid and active EMail I.D. while filling up Online Application Form as the Commission may use electronic mode for contacting them.

How to Apply

1. The Online Applications can be filled upto 16th April, 2019 till 18.00 Hours.. Candidates are required to apply online only by using the website https//www.upsconline.nic.in Brief instructions for filling up the online Application Form have been given. 
2. Candidate should have details of one Photo ID Card viz. Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government. The details of this Photo ID Card will have to be provided by the candidate while filling up the online application form. The candidates will have to upload a scanned copy of the Photo ID whose details have been provided in the online application by him/her. This Photo ID Card will be used for all future referencing and the candidate is advised to carry this Photo ID Card while appearing for Examination/ Personality Test.
